Do YOU Know What Time It Is?

Surely no one can get through this thing called life without knowing what time it is or was or should be, etc. Even though Woody Allen once said: “Half of life is showing up,” you have to realize that it is rather difficult to do that if you can’t distinguish what time it is and what time you are supposed to be there, wherever “there” happens to be. Telling time is a daily living skill that cannot be underestimated and must be learned while you are young. When you are older, time becomes a nasty distraction; a precious commodity that steals our youth, thwarts our expectations and significantly alters dinner and other best-laid schemes.

The time-telling watches on the market today all feature more or less the same thing, and so for the sake of available reviews, we will focus on The Timex Time Teacher Watch, which has one special consideration and is recommended for children 6 years and older. This quartz analog watch features labeled and color-differentiated hour and minute hands and a small dinosaur that rotates around the dial with the hands. The Timex Time Teacher Watch also comes with a comfortable elastic strap decorated with more little dinosaurs against a blue base. (Can any child ever have too many dinosaurs?)

Timex is heads above all the other watch making companies in that it understands that children often lose things on their way to school and enroute to buying stock options, etc. With its unique Kid’s Loss Protection Plan, if the Timex Time Teacher Watch is lost, Timex will replace it with the same style (or similar if your style is not available) at the price of 10 dollars for up to one year from the original date of purchase with no questions asked. (Timex cannot however, be responsible for returning your child if he or she disappears while wearing the Timex Time Teacher Watch. Go to the police. They usually know what time it is.)

The indigo night-light illuminates the surface of the Timex Time Teacher Watch dial using patented, blue, electro-luminescent lighting technology. It also utilizes less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, which translate into a longer lasting battery.

So buy a Timex Time Teacher Watch for your child and start this time-telling journey one moment at a time. Watch that second hand as it makes one trip around the face of the clock and watch the face of your child in the process. Talk about things that take seconds to do (like income tax and home repairs) so that you are sure your child understands the concept all by itself. Then move on to the minute hand before it can say anything to the contrary. Help your child see the second hand’s revolution as compared to the slower one of the minute hand. Do some minute or more lasting activities and pray for the best.

Only you can prevent the next generation from really knowing what time it is. Do you have the time?
